Madrid/Frankfurt, 27. November 2017 – Together with its subsidiary, Bookwire Spain and Latin America, Frankfurt digital services provider Bookwire is now responsible for global distribution of the Spanish and Portuguese eBook catalogue of HarperCollins Ibérica. In addition to distribution, the cooperation also includes support for eBook marketing activities, and pricing analysis and reader analytics, among other valued-added services.
The distribution agreement covers Spanish and Portuguese language titles from the catalogues of imprints brought together under the umbrella brand HarperCollins Ibérica. By signing the contract, Bookwire has gained another international publisher as a partner – the German-language catalogues of Random House, Bonnier and Holtzbrinck Verlagsgruppe had already been added to the portfolio of Bookwire’s international distribution platform during the course of the year.
Jens Klingelhöfer, CEO of Bookwire GmbH: “signing the contract with HarperCollins Ibérica shows that internationalisation is absolutely the right way to go in our business segment. Support from our proven experts, who literally speak our customers’ language, as well as our “Bookwire MACS” distribution software, with its many high-tech features, are convincing. This is combined with the strong name that we have made for ourselves among publishers and shop partners in many markets.”

The cooperation with HarperCollins Ibérica covers eBook distribution in shops, from global players such as Amazon, Apple, Google and Kobo, to important trading partners with local roots, such as Casa del Libro, FNAC and El Corte Inglés (Spain), Gandhi and Librería Porrúa (Mexico), Siglo del Hombre (Colombia), among others.
Javier Celaya, Managing Director Bookwire Spain & Latin America: “naturally, we are delighted that HarperCollins Ibérica also trusts our distribution and marketing expertise, and wants to use it to further boost the success of its eBook catalogue. Cooperations like these confirm our philosophy that global distribution, as well as the right marketing measures, must go hand in hand with an internationally-orientated strategy, combined with thorough knowledge of local markets. We believe that globally increasing the market share requires detailed knowledge of how regional markets work and what needs must be met. And, with our teams and partners in Spain, Colombia, Chile, Peru and Mexico, this is exactly what Bookwire Spain & Latin America offers.”
